Our Art of Flight Experience is truly unique for bird lovers, and you won’t be able to find anything like it in the San Diego area! Guests will get to experience and interact with three different species of birds including raptors and those birds of prey used in falconry, and learn about the features that enable them to fly so beautifully. You will get an up close look at Teacup, our African crowned crane, as well as watch her fly large loops around the southern California landscape. Guests will also experience catching and holding one of our stunning owls as you learn about how and why they are so graceful during flights. Lastly, and certainly not least, the experience will end with a lure flight with our Saker Falcon, Halley. Enjoy the fast pace cat and mouse game that Halley and the trainer play to show you the amazing skills and tricks a falcon has to sneak up on their prey. Once finished, guests will get to hold Halley on then glove to get a closer look at her unique features. Learn from our master falconer Hillary Hankey about how discovering their adaptations helps us preserve their environment and work together in agriculture. This experience is for the bird lover who wants to experience what different species have to offer.
Each of our tours includes a full farm visit. Explore with us how conservation and agriculture come together in unique ways all across the planet for a more sustainable future. We employ permaculture techniques here at our farm for all of the animals and native wildlife of the Southern California chaparral to work together. Check out the wonderful fruits of the ABI Farm, our pollinators, friendly goats, pigs, and mini donkeys, as well as the rest of the free flying bird crew of Avian Behavior International.
