The Hawk Walk Experience features flights with a Harris’s hawk or Augur hawk. In this elegant falconry experience, your group gets to move about our San Diego ranch, calling the hawk and other trained birds of prey to your glove with our experienced falconer, and letting her fly back to the trees and other perches. We get to experience their incredible adaptations up close and in action. It includes an interaction with a second bird of prey, either a barn owl or saker falcon.

This event also includes the  Owl Prowl Experience, which  allows guests to get an up close and personal encounter with our four species of owls. Even in sunny San Diego, our highly trained free-flying owls provide an amazing insight into the world of this iconic predator.

We have five owls on our team! A spectacled owl, Ripley, a Eurasian Eagle Owl, Guinness, a Barn Owl, Beatrix, our Burrowing Owls, Tina, and Screech owl Nigel all demonstrate the unmatched adaptations of owls.

ABI trainers show visitors how to catch an owl on the glove, and you get the chance to be face-to-face with an owl in this Experience. While owls are not the most common birds of prey used for falconry, falconers have used them with varying degrees of success, as they are such effective predators.

Beloved by farmers for their ability to control mouse, rat, and gopher populations, we get to demonstrate right in front of you what makes these birds such valuable agricultural allies. Discover the ancient art of falconry and its role in conservation.

Each of our tours includes a full farm visit. Explore with us how conservation and agriculture come together in unique ways all across the planet for a more sustainable future. We employ permaculture techniques here at our farm for all of the animals and native wildlife of the Southern California chaparral to work together. Check out the wonderful fruits of the ABI Farm, our pollinators, friendly goats, pigs, and mini donkeys, as well as the rest of the free-flying bird crew of Avian Behavior International.
