Owl lovers of California, eat your heart out! Where else in San Diego can you have an interactive experience with three gorgeous owls?
Our boisterous crew of parrots will join us first. We will share a short hike of the east San Diego County chaparral while the macaws dive, swoop, and soar all around us. The parrots will meet us for an ocean view and a breeze to match. We get to take some pictures, interact with them and share some fun while taking in the rural countryside.
The macaws fly home and we will bring out the owls for a special Owl Prowl. Guests will get to learn how to handle our Eurasian Eagle Owl, fly him to the glove, and experience the incredible adaptations of silent owl flight in an up close and personal way. We also bring out Beatrix the barn owl and Ripley the spectacled owl for a visit.
Owl Prowl guests will get to learn how to handle our Eurasian Eagle Owl and fly him to the glove. Our Barn Owl Beatrix gives you the chance to experience the incredible adaptations of silent owl flight in an up close and personal way. And meet sweet Ripley, the Spectacled Owl and learn about this special species from the rainforests from Mexico to South America. Her delightful flights to guests’ gloves make a huge impact as you hear the story of how their sensitive habitat interacts closely with agricultural practices and we have much to learn in preserving rainforest dwellers.
Each experience is interactive with our birds and includes a full aviary tour in which you get to learn about the farm, meet our pigs, mini goats and donkeys, our chickens and even emu! and learn how agriculture and conservation can work together, and even hop a few birds on your hand and feed them. Our whole farm works together to feed and nourish one another in a permaculture relationship, and we can’t wait to share with you our techniques.
