If you have ever wondered about the right way to feed your parrot, how nutrition and exercise impacts an animal’s health-span, and how important foraging activities are for all kinds of birds, this is the conversation for you. Dr. Scott Echols has done extensive research with ground breaking technology looking at bone densities in parrots and all kinds of birds and animals, including snakes! This conversation just scratches the surface on his extensive knowledge.
One of the really neat things that we started to get in to was how this work also relates to feather destructive behavior and its connection with underlying pain. There is a really interesting work here and it has far reaching implications for feather picking and feather plucking in parrots and other birds.
