Meet Kipling, our larger-than-life free flying Southern Ground Hornbill. Enjoying a stroll with a ground hornbill through the hills of San Diego is an extraordinary chance to learn about the story of the Southern Ground Hornbill and Kipling’s role in their preservation in South Africa. Southern Ground Hornbills are smart, charismatic, and curious, and Kipling makes for a very exotic encounter. Our hornbill hike includes a meet and greet with one of our owls, and a special macaw flight with our friendly goats and donkeys to talk about the important work that conservation and agriculture must do with each other. Our farm animals work together to create a thriving, vibrant, peaceful community.
Each experience is interactive with our birds and includes a full aviary tour in which you get to learn about the farm, how agriculture and conservation can work together, and even hop a few birds on your hand and feed them. Learn about our commitment to sustainability with our permaculture farming techniques involving the animals in our care and connecting the ethos of preservation and compassion.
