05 Motivation Part 2: Influences on Bird of Prey Motivation in Training Programs

Bird of prey motivation is broad and sometimes complex. Here we start unraveling a few of the topics we discuss in our community forums and courses.

Our ethos here is to look at as many alternative strategies as we can for weight management, as well as employing progressive weight management techniques to drive motivation to create healthy relationships with food and ethical practices.

This episode discusses real life situations in which the very environmental variables I discuss had actual impacts on our birds’ levels of motivation, like when Halley the Saker Falcon flew in colder weather. Even a bird designed for the steppes of Eastern Asia and Mongolia still had to contend with the same challenges that this thin-blooded human had, though it was not a threat to her health like it could have been for me.

As mentioned, our Raptor Workshop for March is sold out, but you can still sign up for the Advanced Animal Training workshop starting April 15th, Early Bird Pricing is through February 15th!
