Kipling the Southern Ground Hornbill was hatched in Southern California in 2013. He came to ABI at 4 weeks old, where he put away food like a bottomless pit, took naps in a queen-sized bed, and told us he could fly by landing on top of the refrigerator as his inaugural flight. Kip helps build awareness for his wild relatives in South Africa by raising funds through education programs and hornbill hikes on our ranch, as well as hosting fundraisers to benefit the Mabula Ground Hornbill Project.

Adopters will be entertained by Kippy’s joyful antics. At eight years old Kipling is incredibly playful; he loves palm fronds, boxes, pinecones, Fisher Price play sets, and dog toys. As intelligent as he is, Kipling requires a varied diet and a lot of mental stimulation to ensure his success as an education ambassador. Life with Kipling never gets old, and he endears the hearts of many all over the world.

Our Adopt-a-Bird program offers something special and unique for animal lovers out there. Each package includes:

• an adoption certificate
• 5 x 7 photograph of your bird
• a fact sheet of your bird’s species
• a 2021 wall calendar of Avian Behavior International’s free flying friends with exclusive shots from professional photographers
• Monthly updates of videos featuring training and flights of your bird for six months
