Ryane Logsdon, PhD

Ryane Logsdon leads the flock—literally and figuratively—at Avian Behavior Conservancy, where she manages a dazzling array of feathered personalities (and a few quirky human ones, too). With a doctorate in Animal Behavior and a resume that includes caring for non-releasable wildlife in the Bay Area, volunteering with raptors and other education animals, and studying the mysterious Greater Sage-Grouse, Ryane brings serious brainpower to the bird biz.

A passionate amateur birder and avid hiker, Ryane is endlessly fascinated by the weird and wonderful world of birds—from the tool-using brilliance of New Caledonian Crows to the over-the-top courtship displays of Bowerbirds. She’s especially fond of working with the misunderstood rockstars of the avian world: vultures and corvids.

When she’s not fine-tuning training plans or swooning over a perfectly constructed bower, Ryane is geeking out over animal cognition, behavior, and how to build relationships with birds based on trust—not tricks.

Bird nerd? Absolutely. Boring? Never.
